A brick downtown on a lake wide enough to lose the far shore.
Riverwalk, a working marina, and old storefronts that became breweries rather than being torn down.
Hollerbach's — Sanford's German staple since 2001, with live accordion nights and a full Oktoberfest. Then the brewery crawl: Celery City Craft, Deviant Wolfe, Wop's Hops, Dees Brothers.

The other airport, and the one most of the cheap flights actually use.
Twenty minutes from the north suburbs versus an hour to MCO in traffic. For some people that decides the house.
A smaller, easier travel day — Orlando Sanford International is home to budget carrier Allegiant, with direct flights and shorter lines.

They have their own statue. The university is next door, and the town grew up around a citrus depot.
Descended from farm birds that escaped in the 1980s, Oviedo's roaming chickens became the town's mascot — celebrated in souvenirs, events and downtown lore.

You are on the far side of I-4 from the parks and the airport, and I-4 is the problem. Much of what it offers is suburban in the fullest sense.
