St. Cloud OKs 2,600-home Whaley Platt as school district fights for a bigger school site

St. Cloud City Council voted 3-2 on Aug. 6 to approve zoning for Metro Development Group's Whaley Platt/Tranquility community — 2,600-plus homes with a Crystal Lagoon in the East Lake Toho district — with only an 8-acre charter school site secured. The school district says that's insufficient and is negotiating with Metro, after a March 26 circuit court ruling went against the district in a related fight over a 20-acre K-8 site in neighboring Bella Tara.
