Nearly $13 million in federal grants headed to Lakeland Linder airport

Lakeland Linder International Airport is lining up about $12.9 million in federal grants: $8.1 million for three airplane holding bays and $4.8 million for an expanded passenger waiting area, each covered at 95 percent, plus $248,078 from the city's airport renewal fund for parking. The waiting area will seat 150 and add a family restroom, a service animal relief area and a play area designed with the Florida Children's Museum. Holding bay construction is already underway, and the airport has served more than 393,000 passengers since 2024.
