  228-unit Pointe Grand apartments open in Lakeland

  Winter Park-based Hillpointe announced the grand opening of Pointe Grand Lakeland at 901 Patriot Drive on Aug. 17, 2026. All 228 units are two-bedroom, two-bath floor plans of 1,170 square feet, with monthly rents running roughly $1,540 to $1,754. The property sits next to Lockheed Martin's Lakeland offices and near Lakeland Linder International Airport.

  Nearly $13 million in federal grants headed to Lakeland Linder airport

  Lakeland Linder International Airport is lining up about $12.9 million in federal grants: $8.1 million for three airplane holding bays and $4.8 million for an expanded passenger waiting area, each covered at 95 percent, plus $248,078 from the city's airport renewal fund for parking. The waiting area will seat 150 and add a family restroom, a service animal relief area and a play area designed with the Florida Children's Museum. Holding bay construction is already underway, and the airport has served more than 393,000 passengers since 2024.

  Metal-building manufacturer Trimak moves headquarters to Lakeland with ~220 jobs

  Trimak Building Systems received its certificate of occupancy Aug. 17 for a 20-acre site at 4350 County Line Road near Lakeland Linder, a move the company values at about $45 million. It employs roughly 220 people, hired 18-20 in the past month, and plans dozens more engineers, detailers, and machine operators. Lakeland approved a $400K incentive package tied to creating 50 jobs averaging at least $100K in pay.

  Lakeland Linder lands nearly $13M in federal grants for terminal and taxiway upgrades

  The Lakeland City Commission approved three federally funded airport projects Aug. 17: $8.1M for three airplane holding bays, $4.8M for a roughly 150-seat expanded passenger waiting area, and $248K for economy parking improvements. Construction on the holding bays is starting immediately, and the airport is targeting completion of the waiting area before spring break as Avelo's service keeps growing.
