Winter Garden weighs a 7% residential trash rate increase

Winter Garden commissioners heard a proposal Aug. 13 to raise solid waste rates for fiscal year 2027: residential cart service would go from $24.87 to $26.61 a month (7%), with commercial cart service up 18.9% and dumpster service up 5.58%. Staff cited a projected $500,000 deficit in 2027, with cost inflation outpacing revenue from customer growth. The presentation was informational only; no vote date has been set.
