Comment window closes Sept. 8 on the proposed Central Polk Parkway East toll road

Florida's Turnpike Enterprise is studying a new tolled, limited-access highway running from U.S. 27 to north of U.S. 17/92 in northeast Polk County, with proposed access points at U.S. 27, SR 17, Lake Hatchineha Road, Marion Road, Johnson Avenue, Adair Road and U.S. 17/92. The study began in April 2026 and is in the Project Development and Environment phase, with public hearings expected in 2027. Open houses were held Aug. 25 at Lake Eva Event Center in Haines City and Aug. 27 at the Tom Fellows Community Center in Davenport; written comments are due to the project manager by Sept. 8, 2026.
