Walmart pulled from Minneola Marketplace after months of resident pushback
noted Aug 28, 2026

Sun Terra Communities withdrew its application for a Walmart at Minneola Marketplace, the commercial town center planned northeast of North Hancock Road and Citrus Grove Road near the Turnpike interchange. A change.org petition opposing the Walmart and Sam's Club drew 265 verified signatures, and dozens of residents turned out at a January community meeting. "We knew that the voters, as well as the commission, were not in favor of the two-store concept," principal Richard Jerman said; the site remains mixed-use, and plans for the Sam's Club have not been formally scrapped.
