Oviedo approved roughly 700 market-rate apartments at the Oviedo Mall in July — about 400 on the 15-acre former Macy's parcel and 325 more on a 14-acre west-side parcel, with the Macy's demolition permit expected within 90 days and a new east-side mall entrance replacing the store. An earlier, smaller plan for the site — 360 units approved in December 2023 — never started construction; this revised program supersedes it. Phase two construction is expected late 2027 or early 2028.
