Happened Aug 13, 2026 · noted Aug 28, 2026
The Central Florida Expressway Authority announced Aug. 13 that its wrong-way driving detection system now covers every off-ramp outside active work zones — 102 ramps across its 125-mile network in Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. CFX says more than 2,500 drivers turned themselves around before entering an expressway the wrong way between January 2016 and June 2026, a turnaround rate of 88.6%. The agency is also piloting camera-based tracking along about five miles of State Road 417 with UCF researchers.
