Haines City data center proposal stalls on water capacity
noted Aug 28, 2026
Texas-based Cielo Digital Infrastructure has inquired about building a data center near Marion Road and State Road 544 East, asking for up to 150,000 gallons of potable water per day. Haines City currently produces about 10 million gallons a day and uses just over 7 million, and is seeking a modification from the Southwest Florida Water Management District to raise its permitted capacity to 16.42 million gallons daily. Deputy City Manager James Keene noted the city has added more than 10,000 single-family and multifamily units since 2020; no formal application has gone to commissioners.
