A quarter century in, the I-4 Eyesore still has no opening date
The Majesty Building in Altamonte Springs — the 18-story tower Central Florida calls the I-4 Eyesore — has been under construction since 2001. Designed as roughly 200,000 square feet of office and retail and intended as the permanent home of SuperChannel WACX-TV, it is funded through donations to the independent religious station; owner Claud Bowers last promised completion in 2017, the lights came on in 2018, and the exterior and parking garage are finished while the inside, in Altamonte Springs’ own city manager’s words, “looks like a bare bones warehouse looking for somebody to put up a wall.” A first-floor tenant rumored in June 2025 had gone quiet by January 2026, with the owner saying only that progress is still being made.
