Orange County issues the Notice to Proceed: roughly one mile of new four-lane roadway from the county line to about 400 feet east of CR 545 (Avalon Road), linking U.S. 27 in Lake County to State Road 429 in Orange — two 11-foot lanes each way around a raised grass median, with lighting, landscaping and drainage.

One new mile of parkway connects Horizon West to Wellness Way in early 2027

Crews are extending New Independence Parkway, Orange County reported in January 2026 — approximately one mile of new four-lane roadway connecting the existing parkway east of CR 545 (Avalon Road) to Wellness Way at the Lake County border. The extension carries 10-foot multiuse paths on both sides of the roadway and drainage improvements sized for long-term growth, and is expected to be completed in early 2027 as one of two new connections between Orange and Lake counties — the other being the Flemings Road Extension a few miles south.
