A $54 million ask for a garage with a field on its roof
Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan asked Orange County’s tourism-tax task force for $54 million toward a $56 million stadium campus extension: a four-story, 422-foot parking garage with a rooftop sports field capable of hosting events, and a helipad. His case was the parking math — Camping World Stadium has just over 3,800 spaces against the 15,000 to 20,000 at comparable 65,000-seat venues in the Southeast. Hogan said the project could be shovel-ready within 15 months of approval and open in 30. On August 11, 2026 the task force voted to advance the garage among twelve proposals sent on to the County Commission, which makes the final funding call.

The $400 million rebuild of Camping World Stadium is underway
Construction began in early 2026 on the most extensive overhaul of the stadium since its 2014 reconstruction — funded entirely through Orange County’s Tourist Development Tax and scheduled for completion by summer 2027. The scope: a rebuilt upper bowl raising permanent capacity from roughly 62,000–63,000 to about 65,000 seats, reconstructed north end-zone seating, new suites and premium hospitality areas, an events center within the complex, a complete redesign of the exterior façade, and new concourses, concessions and restrooms. Roughly 1,500 construction jobs are expected over the project’s duration. Separately, the city has advanced a 47-acre expansion of the Community Redevelopment Agency district around the stadium, approved by City Council and awaiting Orange County approvals.

The Jaguars will play their 2027 home season at Camping World Stadium
The Jacksonville Jaguars’ own site says it plainly: beginning in the 2027 NFL season, the team will play its home games at Camping World Stadium while EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville is renovated. Ticket details are to be announced, with the team pointing fans to an interest list and to Stadium Pass, the priority-access program run by Florida Citrus Sports for events at the Orlando venue.

Ribbons of aluminum and programmable light: the stadium’s new skin
DLR Group’s design wraps the expanded stadium in matte anodized aluminum — chosen after board members worried a reflective skin would catch drivers’ eyes on S.R. 408 and I-4 — with a programmable LED package that can light the outer skin or the underside of the bowl to match the event inside. Orlando’s Appearance Review Board unanimously approved the expansion in October 2025. One open item: Camping World’s naming-rights contract expired in 2024, and the architects must file a new lighting and signage plan once the city secures a new deal.
